The Orkana Wooden Spatula - 5 is the size-5 model at the top of the Orkana wooden spatula line, designed for bulk cooking vessels. Reach For Deep Vessels: Its long handle goes to the bottom of a large anda or wide bronze uruli so the cook can stir from a safe distance while standing. Feast Cooking: It is the stirrer used for aviyal, erissery and kalan prepared in quantity for Onam sadya, wedding feasts and temple annadanam, where vegetables must be turned gently in a huge mass without being crushed. Strength Where It Counts: The broad wooden blade pushes heavy loads of rice, kanji or halwa without bending, and wood will not react with tamarind, curd or jaggery. Heat Protection: Wood stays cool along its whole length, unlike long steel ladles that become too hot to hold over a wood fire or large gas burner. Who Needs Size 5: Catering units, temple and church feast committees, hostel kitchens and large joint families; for home pots choose size 3 or 4 instead.
